Kallu (Toddy) is a traditional and local alcoholic drink of India. It has different names in each state. In it is known as Kallu and it gives the same effect as drinking any other alcoholic beverage and purely extracted from cocunut tree or palm tree.
There are two different kinds of Kallu - 'Pannam Kallu' and 'Thengin Kallu.' 'Pannam Kallu' is extracted from the palm tree while 'Thengin Kallu' from the coconut tree.
Kallu is best served immediately after collecting from the tree. kallu is searved through toddy shops which are common across kerala. These shops are called as toddy shops or toddy bars or kallushaps(in pure malayalam). the main attraction of all toddy shops is the delicious food that is bdeing served from there. the food is prepared with hot chillies or pepper. the main dishes are karimeen fry, crab fry,chemmeen fry etc..
